I've been asked to do a friends small downstairs toilet/cloakroom. It's 1.5m2 and has a toilet in there. To be tiled in ceramics onto a concrete floor. I just wondered what a fair price for it would be? He says he wants to pay the going rate. It's my first proper paid job so any guidance would be greatly received.

Smithy - can you get him to take the w.c. out before you start!

It'll be a lot easier for you first real job and a lot nicer to look at.

Use a fast set adhesive/get the full tiles in first/keep it straight/clean the edges/have a cup of tea/do the cuts/have a cup of tea/grout in/get paid a days money!

Also he didn't seem hot on taking out wc I did try and explain it would look better and would mean if they wanted to change toilet in future it would be possible (in my opinion it's not a nice colour) haha
If leaving the toilet in just take your time with the cuts, remember what you've been taught and it'll be good practice for you.Remember your learning if it takes a day and a half so be it.

Thanks for the advice my only concern was is it fair to charge a full day just cos I'd be slower. I want to charge the correct amount but don't want to over charge if u get me
It will take a day anyway whether you are slow or not, you still need to let the adhesive dry before you can grout and then you need to let that dry too before you can silcone.

Yeah I'm nearly finished doing my mums kitchen splashback. Pictures will follow on completion. I'm not getting paid for this one she says I'm doing it for love. I do remind her that I haven't found a shop yet that except love as legal tender. I've really enjoyed doing it and you learn alot quickly. Thanks again for all your help. May require more over the coming weeks months and years LOL
