Depends on the thickness but remember the cost will give you insulation as well.

A 50mm floor screed is laid, or used to be until all the insulation came into regs, on top of the concrete floor..

When you tap it does it rattle or sound loose. Its not looking good to me, I cant understand anyone concreting up to Skirting boards ?

Yep i'm with everyone, its an unprimed SLC floor, and needs to go! Make sure you buy a good leveller, not the mud they sell in builders merchants. Mapei renovation screed primed with Primer G takes some beating, Bal Multibase is good too, but can cost more.

was the builder/cowboy informed that the floor was going to be tiled ?? maybe 'not carpet tiles' should have been made clear.

shouldn't an SLC not exceed 10mm to prevent cracking anyway ??
