My kitchen/ dining room floor is as flat as the lake district!!! Im laying plywood and using self leveling compound to level the floor. Which means a movement joint must be used, Unless anyone out there knows a way so that a movement joint wont be needed?

Help!!!!!

are the floors two different substrates, how long/wide is the room.

cheeers steve got it.
firstly, ply the timber floor using 15mm ply scewed down at 300mm intervals with twin thread screws prime edges abd back of ply with acrylic primer before fixing.
prime concrete floor, then selflevel floor ( i usaully use ardex k15 ) starting with the low spots and build from there until its flat . dont have to get it level as long as its flat.
where the boards meet the concrete put your movement joint there directly above the join between the two subtrates, either use a manufactured joint or form one your self with Silicon depending on what finish you want( same colour as grout ). Will look better if you start with full tiles from that point and work out from there.
HOPE THIS HELPS mate and good luck... dave...

i see you are in sunderland, so use c.t.d. and they stock ardex k15 which will go up to 50mm in one go by adding small grade chippings to it, full instructions on back of bag, i swear by it , it has a good flow rate and fast curing time ( light foot traffic 2 - 3 hrs and can be tiled on following day regardless of thickness. 1 bag does about 2sqr mtrs at about 6mm thick , costs around £20.00 for 22kg bag.

they are at brooke street sunderland also team valley/darlington/newcastle/stocton
