I was asked to quote to tile two walls in a bathroom locally. I put my price in and waited as I knew or thought I was the only one putting a quote in. The woman said she was in a hurry to get it tiled and the plumber was coming this wednesday to replace the bath, bowl and basin and wanted it tiled straight after.

This is what she emailed me and I haven't changed a word....

"sorry its been this long to get back to you but we have had a couple of problems with the walls, put it this way when the bath came out so did the plaster board wall!!!! it was very wet therefore we need a new wall and have had to find a plaster he will also fill the gap at the end of the wall and says he will tile stright after. iam sorry to have mucked you around although i didn't see this happening! i apologise for the inconvience we have acauses and hope that sound we need any work in the future we could try you again? Many thanks,":incazzato:

This is the bit that gets me... "have had to find a plaster he will also fill the gap at the end of the wall and says he will tile stright after.":mad2:

I thought you had to wait at least a week for the plaster to dry then prime before tiling. If he is going to do what she has said what will happen?

I would personally reply, saying 'thanks for letting me know although I'm concerned that without the proper preparation done the problem may come back, has the plasterer discussed ways to prevent this such as tanking etc and that it is not recommended to tile onto bare plaster for at least six weeks etc etc'.

That way your not asking for the work but letting her know the problems and theres a good chance that she'll question it and come back to you

Do you guys think its worth me replying now after I have already replied even though two days have passed just to air my concerns??

In my opinion, yes, you could always say that it was out of the blue, you hadn't thought about it until today type thing, but on the other hand, you could say nothing, hope that it fails   and wait for the call
