I don't understand it either - maybe to a customer so they dont think you're desperate but not to a fellow tiler who could possibly put work your way. I don't mind admitting its gone dead here after a decent January not had a phone call for tiling or bathrooms in the last 3 weeks and no work booked in.

On the flip side, I had a call from a tiler that I know from years ago. He's pretty good but has absolutely no work. He's offering to work for me as a labourer at a very cheap day rate just to get some money in. Maybe it's just the stupid businessmen that are claiming to be rushed off their feet and earning bucket loads???

The natural role of the male in most mammal species is to breed and to provide to the dependants and this is inherent behaviour to most of us. So for many men, to admit they have little work is to admit a failure in their masculinity. Inversely to claim to have loads of work at a high rate is another manner of flexing their muscles to try and impress others.

That's pretty much it G. You can explain nearly all human behaviour by studying that of animals. Humanity has to rely on education and higher intelligence to counteract their natural behaviour. We are freaks of nature.

I know that really, just having a bit of fun... men swagger and beat their chests metaphorically the same as gorillas, and women do the flirty stuff the same, great fun though, would be boring without it ... just as long as people know what it's all about... it's the people who don't and think they are dead clever, that's when the trouble starts... and we get back to the letter P ....
