Hi folks
Starting a 350 m2 wall and floor job next tuesday, in a school changing rooms/showers/kitchens and have never done such a large contract job, so was hoping a few of you guys that may have done large area tiling jobs could give me some tips for getting this job done as quickly as possible. There will be two of us attempting to get this done in 3 weeks. We really need to be sticking at least 10 m2 on each per day. Tiles are standard 6x6 ceramic. 2/4mm spacers. we will be using a datum and staff to enable us to work in seperate areas. Your thoughts and speedy tips very much appreciated.
Thanks Andy

dont leave all you grouting until the end its better to get in early and grout the previous days work this will allow other trades to finish and if you are doing floors you wont get any crap in the joints from other trades also dont work too late you will knacker yourself for the next day take your breaks at regular times all this will help you achieve a sustainable steady speed, keep your work area tidy and clear up as you go this saves time at the end of the day when you need to get home, open up 20m2 of tiles and take then out of their boxes arrange them in piles along the work area so you are not constantly stopping to go and get one or two boxes at a time make sure you have plenty of clean water and all the materials and plant you need are onsite before you start as there is more wasted time running around after materials than anything else, thin out your tool kit to only exactly what you need for the job you are doing as it can waste time and energy carrying around tools you dont need , you will find that 15m2 plus a day each is easily achievable good luck

Thanx for all those tips guys, any more ideas welcome, bin racking my brain thinking of ways to save a minute or two here and there as there all gona add up over three weeks. We bin hamerd right down on sq m price for this job and if it goes to plan theres gona be another four schools after this one, but if it takes us longer than the three weeks we,ve estimated then its not gona be worth the effort for the reward, and the contractor can go get his imigrant workers yellow pages out:lol::lol:
Thanks again i,ll let you know how we,re gettin on!!!
