Just had a phone call from the guy whom I layed a limestone floor last weekend, he says that there is a stain on one of the tiles-it may have come from dirty water from the washing machine. I can't really work this out as I sealed all the tiles twice, is it a case of getting a cleaning product to remove the offending stain or is it taking the tile up and re-laying it? Help!!

Hi Neil, have you been to check the tile?....if it's from the washing machine make sure he/she hasn't chipped or damaged the tile putting the machine in, might have breached the seal...

From what i understand it might be from a pool of standing water, my local shop says that it could well dry out in time. Lets hope thats the case otherwise it might mean pulling out that tile and replacing it-which is a bugger.

does this mean that it's the sealer itself that's discoloured? I know there are some very knowledgeable people on here, I'll leave it in their very capable hands mate....fingers crossed

i treated all the tiles with two coats of sealant, but according to my local shop you can still get staining on natural stone

Its quite simple this one....

If you can guarantee you have sealed the tiles twice with the correct sealer, then the responsibility is not yours. (Making sure you sealed the grout too).

You need to contact the technical department of the product you used and get them to check the floor and the product you used on the day.

Just because Mr Smith decides he wants to flood his floor, thats not your fault.
