I purchased two lots of red 6" square reclaimed victorian quarry tiles a couple of years ago with the aim of laying them on my kitchen floor.
One set of tiles has JCE written in the middle of the base with RUABON at the top at NWALES at the bottom. The other set has Randlay Salop written on the base. I have roughly 500 of each.
They've been sat uncovered in my garden whilst I have gradually worked through cleaning them off. The JCE tiles are absolutely fine and have cleaned up perfectly.
The Randlay tiles have developed a patchy staining. It looks as if the tiles are damp as the colouration is just slightly darker but that is not the case. Some of the tiles show staining in a pattern that reflects the base of the tile that was stored on top of it.
I have tried several products to remove this staining without luck so far including Aquamix heavy duty cleaner, Aquamix Nanoscrub, Lithofin Wexa and Lithofin Wax-Off.
Does anyone have any idea what might have caused this and how I might remove these stains?
Many thanks.
