Point taken Ray and they won't payout for the bigger cutters but there will still be alot of the smaller sizes of tiles that they can take on and that will be were jobs are crap.

No to be honest but I have a sigma for 900 tiles and have used more than once which has surprised me, looks like I could be knocking on your door for somethink bigger:thumbsup:

Nice one Deano!

Without a doubt the best move you could make. Not sure on the course but in the most part bathrooms only require the basics of plumbing rather than some of the more technical sides to the trade. The most technical it gets is with the different waste systems and the pit falls to avoid and learning about the different domestic systems and making sure the fixtures and fitting are compatible with them. As with any trade it's not quite as easy as it looks but as I say the basics you need to learn are simple in the most part.

Good luck mate and when you're ready to buy your kit then check back and i'll try and give you some pointers, for £200 you can get a good solid basic tool kit together. torches, cutters, benders, adjustables etc. etc.

good move Deano,

the skills and understanding the course will give you will stand you in good stead if you want to move into the full bathroom installation service sector.

you know me and my work, I come from a pure tiling background but got sick to the back teeth of organising plumbers to site so made the move to learn the plumbing skills needed to take them out of the loop.

I still use them but only for boiler and cylinder upgrades, everything else is mine now.

having the skills to do the prep, 1st fix, tiling and 2nd fix will make you more time efficient as the different phases of the project run into each other with no dead time between trades, you can factor this in to your quotes to be more competative if needed

also if you can supply the whole package including suite etc then you can make a good profit on this also.

basic tools can be had as CR says for a reasonable initial outlay, carrying stock in the van is another matter, i carry around 2k of plumbing stock in the van and top up fortnightly (when your at/going to the merchants your not making money !)

if you ever need any advice just pm me

Rob

whats coming up ray thats so different .
i thought we had had massive changes in last few years and i am quite pleased about all this rectified porcelain because it has to be done right or just looks rubbish.
let us in on the secret .
following the trend in usa and japan i foresee alot more granite tiles in next few years. there is such a choice of fabulous granite now , i think it will hit us fairly soon.
another plus for good tilers as this needs to be done properly as well.
