He was only 49... so strange and sad... I just talked to him a couple of weeks ago in the supermarket, we talked for quite a long time, he was depressed really, after a shoulder injury, a bit of a hard man lost, I felt quite sorry for him, his swagger had gone, you know? Posting it as some of you I know are into Aikido and maybe knew him?

Thank you, Gary. My son, when little, went to his class for a while, he's just one of those faces most people will recognize and remember, but you know, he never never struck me as happy, even before his shoulder troubles. We talked to him quite often, like fellow martial arts people with a very different approach do, bumping into each other in town, I just have this overwhelming sense that he just couldn't be bothered any more and just shut down. So sad to see that kind of depression or emptiness when there is SO much I want to do with my own life still. I just really hope that he is in a blissfully happy place now.
