That is not an option i would not even consider, you have 2 substrates now that will expand at different rates against each other and IMHO will not last.

Rather you than me i'm afraid, there are more appropriate products on the market.

Surely using a leveler would be the best option here to build up the floor and then leave an expansion gap between the two different floors.

If the customer will not take advice of other methods of doing this then you must have it in writing that they are happy with how you are laying the boards etc. I think the guy above is correct you have 2 differet substrates that will both expand at different rates.

I think i'd rather walk away from the job. I don't understand why you would stick plywood to a solid floor and then tile just because the customer wants it doing this way.

Like Dave says it's got disaster written all over it.

The way it looks is that your turning a solid floor perfect for tiling in to something that will cause you problems. maybe sme pictures may help this situation for us to understand?
