Hello all, anybody had a pop at cladding?

The builder I do a lot of work for has asked me to put up the stone in a kitchen on a job Im just about to start. Iv told him that I haven't done it before but would have a look at it and have a go if its all straight forward. The stone and the motor is all there and I have a catalogue of the companies but would be interested if any of you guys could give some pointers? The company is Fernhill stone.

Back them up mate...:).. just keep an eye on your levels.. and stagger joints.. easy enough and is going to get popular as importers seem to be stocking them..

I have some niches to do in them with down lights.. :):):)

I believe that's an Irish company too,
One of my brothers has a roof slate company and he was looking me to start fitting it to houses ! Two weeks ago he sent me the details.
I'm too busy at the minute to look closely but it would involve a lot of outside work if I took him up on the offer.
Ardex I believe was mentioned for the fixing too with mechanical fixing above certain heights ie 2m or so.
I'v fitted rough cut marble lately as wall features in expensive bathrooms.

I have been reading through their website and the fixing method seems a piece of cake. This is on a feature wall in a kitchen (render). Think I will give it a go, to be honest, from reading through the fixing guide it seems a lot easier then what I usually do with stone... I suppose I will find out.

Any other tips of gems of knowledge would be very gratefully received
