Welcome along mate.
You are right about the screws that come with it......I found they were far too thick and chunky and if used near the edge they made it split-out.
Best screws I ever found are "NO MORE PLY" screws, nice and "thin", self tapping and they also countersink themselves flush with the surface of the board.
For the first time after viewing a HOW TO on here, I put flexible adhesive down underneath the boards, and it feel even more solid and robust......Good stuff.

hi mate just seen your backer bord problem you can buy specil washers witch let the screwers sit flush om the backer bord you can get than tham placers like ctd hope all is well and good luck

hi rookie, i use the black phopshur coated drywall screws, very sharp point, easy to drive in and a large head, and if you do a lot of overboarding invest in a autofeed screwdriver as it uses these screws and can be set to drive in flush every time,,,have fun,, if you are not sure then ask,,,get insurance,,,good luck!!!
