Not been tiling very long so I was pleased when i got the thumbs up on a job I recently priced up.
I went a long to the house in question and discussed with the lady what she wanted. It was a kitchen splash back of 5m Sq, she was adamant that it had to be a full tile from the work top and what ever was left at the top then so be it. As it worked out it left a 15mm sliver at the top of the window sill and cupboards which she was happy with. I suggested it may be better with a 3/4 tile from the work top to allow the sliver at the top to be bigger hence looking better, but she didn't want that.
During my trip home tonight after finishing the job I had a phone call from the lady in question asking if I could go back around and start again as she didn't like the small sliver at the top after all. :whatchutalkingabout

Did i do the right thing by starting the job in the first place or should I have been more persuasive at the begining.

should have been more strenious when starting out m8,should have TOLD her that it would have looked silly with the little cut at top.Ihad the szme scenario on Monday when the cooker which was between 2 worktops had different heights in worktop either side and i had to cut all the bottom row to suit, ist not great doing it but if punters are happy at the onset then what can you do apart from persuading them round to your thinking.

Just as an addition to my first reply, Thinking back on jobs I have had situations where the window ledge was only a small cut up from the first row and have shown the client a suitable finish using listellos and thin border tiles which tie in with their accessories and fittings. Stainless steel and white trim work for me.
