If I needed to grout up the same day then I wouldn't use tubbed adhesive, I'd use cement based powdered addy instead, as tubbed adhesive drys by air contact only so grouting up the same day can lock in the moisture from tubbed adhesive, where as cement based addy drys differently, "to be honest I have forgot the phrase as to how it dries", but it does not need air contact like tubbed adhesive does, so you can happily grout up within a couple of hours.

So, once you have finished one end of tiling and start grouting the start section the rest of the tiles are drying as your grouting the other bit.

Then once the groutings been done, I'll clean all tools and pack them away, then at the last minute get the Silicon done, so the grouts had some time to start going off.

Thanks Fekin. I will be back to grout the next day, possibly grout up, clean up, then Silicon as you say, after a brew!

Personally I would leave the grout at least an hour, more if possible, before trying to Silicon. I have done this before and had to go back and completely re-do the Silicon because the moisture in the grout stops the Silicon adhering properly.

Kitchen backsplash, after the days tiling, clean surfaces off and Silicon prior to your next days grouting. Push the Silicon back that has squeezed into vertical joint with a nail, so it does not hamper you from getting grout flush....Gaz

I do just as gaz has said....no messing about in the morning..straight onto grouting and then away...

I tried the siliconing first on one job and it worked pretty well actually. Think I'll stick with that then. Cheers
I reverted to this method...many years ago after grouting & siliconing the same day, and they reacted because the grout was still moist...application of Silicon needs to be a dry and clean environment.....Gaz

I agree. I have not got my head around this grouting 2nd business yet. I will maybe try it on my next job and see how it goes.
