Substrate identification help please!

I have concrete floor to tile and it have some sort of black colour couting:huh2: .Is it suitable to tile on?Any suggestions would be much appreciated.:computer:

What was on the floor originally..?..was it vinyl tiles or similar..?...

Guessing its probably bitumen they used to stick vinyl down but answer Daves question and go from there m8

you will get the hang of it wetdec..some times you just guess what they are on about and your right..sometimes wrong...but we get there in the end....:lol:

I do not know Dave,but looks like there was a some sort of covering previosly.I poured some water on it, absorbs very slow.Scrached it-thin and hard to remove.Any suggestions?:uhoh2:

I would prime it with BAL bond SBR neat..leave to dry and tile within 24 hrs of priming..............good luck.....

Is it sticky and uneven? If so its probably the vinal tile addy mentioned above. Ive put a thin coat of self levelling compound down over this previously and it leaves a super surface to tile onto.
