Hi, can somebody shed some light on swimming pool tiles?
I have a pool to build in spain, my problem is the spanish would
sell you a toaster to cook chips!! If you know what I mean.
I have found some tiles with paper on the front that you stick on then wet the paper then grout. Today I found some more that have a mesh backing, but they have a 45 degree angle around each tile.
Can you tell me is this correct?
I have attached two pictures.:mad2:

Hi m8 the tiles you have in the pics are glass mosaics and they are suitable for swimming pools.

thanks, do you have any tips on tiling a pool, is it better to
do the sides first?
what shape is it ?i normally tile the walls first after setting the whole pool out depending on the shape, with these glass mosaic tiles it is better to run bands of full tiles along the edges when cutting through diagonal lines this allows easier fixing of the cut sheet when meeting in the corners also following curves or going round circles frame these with bands of full tile then cut your sheet into this again this will give a better finish and helps with fiddly cutting hope this helps

Hi Gary
Thanks for that.
I understand that you are saying run round the top with a boarder and keep running round, instead of going up and down.
Is this what you mean?
The pool is an 8x4 with a rounded end with roman steps.
For grouting is it best to start in the middle and work into the corners?
This might sound like a silly question, but do you just rely on the adhesive to hold the tile in place, eg if you start at the top will they not slip a little? :yikes:
Cheers

no steve you have misunderstood me, by all means set your level around the pool with a water level or laser level and use this as your datum line when tiling, when tiling down the wall when meeting the floor of the pool before ypu cut into the floor run 2 lines of mosaic along the base and cut into this it save fiddly cutting and gives a better line to cut into
