tanking paint

Hi guys im new to the forum.can u please help me with a problem i have..i tanked my shower area about a year ago using dunlop's tanking kit.i recently noticed mildew coming through the grout where the bottom tile meets the shower.on further inspection ive noticed the tanking paint and webbing tape has come away from the base of the shower tray..can anyone please help me source the tanking paint used or equivalent so as i can stick the webbing back down..thank for any help

When you say mildew at the bottom.. did you silicone this area and what adhesive did you use..?

yeh i siliconed.i noticed the the mildew at silone edge.when i peeled back the silicone then i noticed the webbing tape had come away from the shower tray..i used bal adhesive

Was it tubbed or bagged..?.. The mildew could just have been in the silicone and you can get over that by just renewing..

it came in a tub..i was planning on applying some of the tanking paint and the re-siliconing.just dont know where to get the paint from

is there any give or movement in the tray in this area

You won't be able to get any tanking in..?? just clean old silicone out and renew..

asked about the adhesive because some can grow mould in it from constant wetting.

i have noticed a little play in the shower tray not much .would it be best to weight down the tray before applying the silicone

Does the plinth at the front of the tray come off... try strengthening underneath first to remove any play.. then yes weigh down before siliconing if possible.

does anywhere sell the tanking paint on its own without the kit

need to sort out movement in tray first then if its just a split you could silicone it up with a high grade silicone as mentioned above you will struggle to apply w/p in gap

A good sanitary grade silicone with anti-fungal..

deffinatly weigh down the tray first, i always use silicone with microban in wet areas, microban protects against mould mildew and fights bacteria, always a better option than standard silicone, try window fitting outlets for it or on the internet, bit more expensive than normal but it will last twice as long, dunlop do a silicone with microban...Dunlop adhesives and sealants or check out the evrbuild web site, u can get the one i use, its called forever white, check them out at everbuild.co.uk, this will be better tham the dunlop version.
