Tanking Wedi boards.

Good afternoon. I hope you don't mind me asking a couple of quick question to get your views on this. I always tank wet areas using the ardex tanking system. Would you still tank the bath/shower areas if wedi board has been used to board these areas out. I've never fixed to wedi board before. I spoke to there technical department and they said you don't need to, all you need to do is seal the joints.
My views is that it wouldn't hurt to tank it but would I be wasting time and money.
If you don't need to tank the board can I still use the ardex tanking to seal the joints.

You will require the mesh/ banding with the gum to seal the joints. In the past I have tanked waterproof boards when for example it has been a small tanked wet area. Was spending too much time faffing so tanked the lot! Not necessary, but certainly no harm

Thank you for your reply. I take it you mean the tape and gum that are from wedi themselves rather then another tanking kit
