Have a look at the Ardex WPC system. Can be tiled after 3 hrs, and no tapes or such-like to worry about. Expensive though.

Do u not tank the entire area of the shower? Just one tile up from the base?

I think the tile is to mark on the tray where to put some masking tape for tile thickness not to mark the height of the tanking
