I have just finished a 5 day course here. Overall I am fairly happy about what I have learnt, but there are a few things that I didnt like about the course.

1. the course was meant to be 4 days, but because there was only one instructor (for 3 tilers and 2 plumbers) I didnt get so much attention and therefore went quite slowly. The result of this is that after 4 days I hadnt learnt how to lay floor tiles or how to grout yet. Therefore i had to pay £85 for an extra day to learn how to do these. Also it says on the website that the course will run from 9 until 3.30-4 every day, but at 2.45 every day we were told to start tidying up, and with a 45 min lunch I didnt spend as much time as I would have liked doing the course.

2. The instructor knew what he was doing but wasnt the friendliest of people, I know it isnt that important, but would have been nice if he was a friendly guy.

Overall though what I did learn I feel they taught me well and I am confident to move onto other projects.

Overall i would rate the course 6.5/10, mainly becuase I had to pay for an extra day because there was a lot of time wasting and even then I wasnt taught what was meant to be taught in the 4 days.

A short course has to be very well structured to deliver the goods, otherwise you will learn very little. if a long course isnt structured the sheer amount of time you spend there you will still learn.

People need to do more reasurch and check out independent feedback from others before parting with their cash on a course that is close to them for convienience

We finish at 6pm every day and even then the pace is quick to get the info fitted in, somedays breaks dont happen, just a lunch

Yeah, 6.5 out of 10 for that kind of quality seems a little generous to me. I agree with NETT Darren that a short course needs to be well structured and that breaks should be kept to a minimum (30 min lunch and 2 quick 10 min breaks if time allows).
Arrange to visit a centre towards the end of the course and speak with the learners on the course to see if they are happy with what they have learnt and to see if you are happy with the work they have produced.
Be careful and do your research.
All the best.
Dave
