Thin ply for floor

Please can I have some assistance with a problem.
I have two bathroom floors to lay with tiles - its a relatively new build house and the floor level is quite high so by laying a 15mm ply floor plus everything it takes the floor way to high.
Is there an alternative ?
Not sure what to do ?

is there any deflection in the floor? I'm guessing that its floorboards at present?

If the floor is deflection free, then 6mm backerboard as the way to go, glued and screwed.

:welcome: the floor is prob chipboard . if it is see if it is green in colour??
check for movement in the boards and how much bounce there is . the chipboard should be replaced with 18mm wpb ply screwed at 200 centers. then sbr primed. A decoupling matting fixed with flexi adhesive . tiled useing a flexi adhesive then grouted with flexi grout. . you MUST make sure that as much bounce and movement is taken out before you start fixing. its all in the prep ok

Depends on the adhesive manufacturers spec.

I'd go with Grumpy's deflection free alternative - 6mm backerboards.

ardex 7001 is one fo the best addy out there . great grip . good bucket life and mixes up well . A1 adhesive . not chep but will not let you down!!

You do need to make sure deflection is at a minimum before over boarding..

Hardibacker 250 ( 6mm ) would be my choice but like already mentioned you need to make sure is is good to tile on first.

I would lift the floor first and have looksee. Has someone notched the top of a floor joist to run a heating pipe? If you want to fit a new light fitting beneath can you pull enough cable down to make the joint? Anything there that you might need to access. Worth a look I reckon.
