Tile nippers / nibblers.

I am after some new tile nippers..

What make do you use..? and any good recommends as my latest ones are knacked.

Don't want any Rubi ones as the jaws don't last 2 mins on them..

Mine are Rubi and have lasted at least a year.
I tried some Silverline and a pair of Vitrex but they didnt last long.
I know Armeg make tile nippers...Or should I say Armeg sell them...I am sure they are all made in the same factory anyway.

I don't use them often really but handy for shaping etc... just my last rubi ones chipped very easily on porcs..

Sometimes you get a good pair that last ages and then you open a packet of a new pair and they chip right away. never really understood that myself.

Do you use the Rubi general purpose or the mosaic nippers??? Most shops only sell the mosaic type. The general purpose ones are much stronger.

The pair i have at present are from genesis but cumbersome and not really that comfortable to use...

Anyone used the Karl Dahm ones..?

dave i really rate the tile rite nippers..the blue handled 'professional' ones are excellent!! identical to the hoffman ones tradetiler ued to sell..
and the red handled heavy duty are very good too!!

As Ed for me Dave, but giving my age away, I started using carpenters pinchersBuy Pincers Carpenters pincers 210mm Knipex 5101210 online from RS for next day delivery. no tungsten, just steel, the first tungsten ones I used were for mosaic, we called them side winders.

those blue nippers are good quality and the blue handles are rough textured so you get a good grip..good tips on them aswell.

i just use the genesis ones, pair ive got now seemed to have lasted ages, however my son got in my tool boxs and opened the nips out wide and the spring keeps falling out now which is a little annoying, i had a pair of parrot nips years ago rembers those..

I still have the parrot nips Andy, don't use them much anymore, used to be handy for opening up a hole before core drills

Still have parrot nippers too, useful in some situations.

I know this might sound a bit mad Dave but I always wore my new nippers in on ceramic wall tiles to avoid the chipping problem, for some reason if you use new nippers on hard tiles they always splinter, a few weeks use on wall tiles and they then seemed to be fine on porcelain ,Ihave the long handled porcelain nippers with the large head on them and even they splinter when used new on porcelain tiles

I got some Genesis ones when CTD had them on offer. The tips broke quite easily so probably wont buy them again. Might try Rubi next.

Yellow handles, same ones i got, quite bulky arn't they.

dont like those genesis nippers, got a set about 18months ago from ctd, nippers and parrots. as dave, too bulky. parrots are handy though

From any pair I've owned, the blue handled ones seem to wear very well and the red handled ones are of poor quality. Had my current pair for a good few years with good teeth and regularly nip porcelain round quadrant trays, toilet waste etc. Have a feeling they were in a Draper packet, but would imagine they're all made in one or two places.

Anybody else take the spring out as soon as they get new nippers? Sprung nippers are horrible.
