Just looked at a job and they want me to tile over the existing 20 x 30 ceramic tiles on two walls - the existing tiles appear to be well stuck. It's higher than normal at 2.75m so I need to feel sure what I do is going to stay well stuck.

Would just a primer be sufficient (recommend me a primer please) or would it be better to go over it with backer board screwed on (with washers) on a 6mm notch bed of SPF.
