Maybe i'm reading it wrong!?! The way i see it, if you're cutting trim around a window, it would need to be layed in the mitre block. If you lay it against a wall ie. if you were only tiling to half room height, you'd stand it up in the mitre block.

I don't see the difference in where you lay it to, it depends onto which wall your going to lay the back of the trim / flange to, that determines what technique. Whether it stops half way up and stops at a 3 way mitre or a horizontal trims underside.

Get a length of trade trim (less than a quid) and practice. Cut different mitres until it sticks in ya napper.

Or, do as I do.........buy 20 trims at a time.......so if and WHEN you make a mess of it........you got enough spares. When your paying for them, and your running low.....its surprising how quick it sticks in ya napper :hurray:

Now, lets move onto coving, there are FOUR different cuts..........!

External corners, left and right, and internal corners left and right.

Come to think of it there are about 6 different ways a tile trim can be cut, and that's assuming you've got nice 90° corners, not the 135° like I have in my bathroom. Try doing that in CTD metal tile trim with the corners they provide.
