tilers realistic earnings

Hello. Relative newbie......Im in the process of looking around with the intention of learning a trade. Can anyone tell me what a self employed tiler should realistically earn in these times and what is the work situation at present? Thank you

You probably won't get many people telling you how much they earn but, in my first 2 years self employed I barely reached 5 figures and that was before the recession.

im looking to clear £250.00 a week...anything above that is a bonus but this is my bottom line figure for survival to pay bills support the family etc. Is this realistic in these times?

After a 5 day course is completed you should expect to earn approximately £90k net in your first year's trading.

Well......as you lot know I put in a 3 day week....usually finishing at 2pm....(starting at 9).......its hard graft and long hours, I know...(don't mention it!) but after my short and inexperienced time in the trade I would be expect £250 a day.....after tax and stoppages.........

A self employed anyone should earn what they are worth, you should be asking what you are worth, considering you are new then I'd guess you won't be worth much but who knows, you may be very talented and learn a lot in your first year.

It's getting the work that will be the hardest part, you should easily be able to clear £250 a week, but can you get the work to allow you to earn it?

is that £250 going to cover your bills,food,van,running of van,public liability,tools(you will need to invest in loads in your first years especially)work clothes,tidy clothes etc ? unless your missus has a good job,if so forget everything i mentioned ..:smilewinkgrin:

£250 a week take home is more than acceptable...........so sorry............as a labourer for a tiler, that is the norm in London.......
I would imagine that it is nearer £200 in MK......but if you show aptitude..........who knows!

Tidy clothes lol, I gave up on that last year. - trying to give out the right image with all the snickers gear, I now wear joggies and tshirt, perfect for agility in the most common tiling battleground - the bathroom

Hi Dave what experience do you have? Your question is like how long is a piece of string? I was earning £ 500 per day in the 90's but I was fast and good, I still am but we are no longer in the 90's this is the worst time in history to become a self employed tiler IMO.
