Looking for advice on this one please.
I am a self builder. I have had a guy, whio says he is a tiler, lay 100 sq m of 600mm sq porcelain floor tiles over a concrete floor which has water based under floor heating in it. Due to the concrete floor not being perfectly level, he said that the tiles had to be laid had to be laid on pads. These only cover about 50% of the tile area underneath the tile. In addition he has used rapid set adhesive. There are huge voids underneath each tile. The have been filled using a flexibile grout.
Result: About 40% of the tiles are now loose. The grout is all flaking and dropping out. No doubt due to the tiles being put on pads and not having anything under the grout to keep it in.
Has this been laid correctly? Can tiles be laid on pads. Has the correct adhesive been used?
Do I have any comeback with the Tiler?
Advice please.
