Tiling a worktop

Just had a call from someone asking if i'm able to tile his existing laminate worktops. I admitted that i'd never done it and wasn't sure if it could be done. I explained that it might be better to remove them and build a worktop from marine ply with a wood-lipped edge so the tiles could be laid into the space. I am totally unsure how to do this, are there any of you guys out there who have done it or have some knowledge on this puzzle?

Never seen it done i think you`re right to use marine ply or perhaps screw the ply to the worktop

Save yourself the hassle Mikey...abrade the laminate to obtain a key, and use Mosaic-fix.. OH and.....Easypoxy grout because of the hygeine thing....Gaz

Cheers Gaz my main concern was the addy taking to the laminate surface, and i did think that even keying it probably wouldn't be good enough. Why Mosaic fix, what's so different about it?

or use PCI 303 primer then tile as normal ete

Thought fast flex would have been the stuff to use on laminated worktops? but then again.........never really thought about that kind of tiling:ninja:

It's highly polymer modified mike....:yes:

Probably the best standard setting adhesive available, IMO.
