Ok so before but even after its £800 per week in hand, actually more if you factor 6 weeks holiday in without pay, I don't think so somehow..
To be fair he didn't say 50k a year so he wasn't accounting for holidays he did say a day . Can't believe I'm defending the plumber .

But he also said it was a kick in the teeth so would expect a lot more? @Waluigi would you like to clarify? To earn that minimum day in day out adds up to £50k a year..

There are huge differences around the country. For a Tiler at the top of his game where I live, £200 would be a kick in the teeth.

Yes I stand by that statement. I can’t comment on other areas of the country.
A couple of decorators I use charge £180.
Cost of living here is high though.

Well obviously I can't prove any different but very surprised to hear you can pay yourself double what the average nurse or police officer gets paid...and you still need to scrimp on cheap Chinese imports ;):)

The Legend; Phil Hobson RIP

I think your son is very lucky, to be offered an apprenticeship for any money. they are like hens teeth now, but if he succeeds he will be glad in the long run.

I started on less than tj my mates laughed at my poor wages, they had jobs as laborers on more money than me, but when I came out of my time I was on much more than they were.

I agree with all the advice above. I was lucky when I became self employed at the tender age of 24 I quickly made a very good reputation.that is where you can command good money, there are lots of people who will pay for quality, but if he could become a specialist in one area, which others shy away from, as tj and I did then he will clean up,

N,B, the guys who mocked me are probably lucky if they make £300 pounds a week I could make £300 a day, who's laughing now? good luck.
