Tiling behind hot stove!!!

The big porcelain job i'v on needs me to supply and fit 4m2 of tiles behind a 20kw stove,very hot i know.
They want maybe cream glazed 4" square tiles or bricked cream tiles,i'm thinking porcelain would be best? opinions please?
I will use keraquick i think,or maybe mapeker:smilewinkgrin:

If you can get a porcelain that they like fine!
Most ceramic tiles - handmade type rustic - are suitable but they may craze and I'd make sure the stove was off and turned back on slowly to warm up again.
Most fast set flexible adhesives will be OK.

would be better than ceramics as the heat would show less condensation!

imo they re more practical than stainless steel or glass spashbacks

as John said ..porcelain if poss.,,as for addy..I'd opt for a basic BAL/Mapei flexi..non rapid to give you more open time, just make sure the damn things off as you fix..or you'll be chucking stuff away!..I've fixed so many surrounds to AGA's where they couldn't/wouldn't be switched off..a nightmare for fixing and grouting!..best of british to you mate!

This is a solid fuel stove to be set into a fire place basically,it's not installed yet so i'v time to do it good. The heat will be high as this thing is going to heat 16 radiators apparently.

I'll have the back and two sides to tile,i'd like to do it on the diamond but i'll see when i get the tiles.

I have done a few with ceramics.. they re fine.. the chimney only gets so hot and not enough to cause damage... flexi adhesive etc and when inserting tile behind the flue wear a glove..

Most aga's are on 24/7 all yr round.

Hi, Just think how the tiles are made! Cement based flex adhesive and grout is adequate, Check out the substrate first, if in dought sand+cement render then stick them with the above. :8:2Balls
