My archway is currently in my head - sorry - no pictures.
I've got a recessed ceiling over my shower - currently all 90 degree angles. I'm planning to build an arch at the entrance to the shower, which will be tiled and have two or three recessed lights.
My plan is to run 1x2 inch rectangular tiles along the curve and use 4 inch tiles with 90 degree bends to run along the inside and outside of the arch to transition to the walls running up from the arch. I'm planning to use porcelain and possibly cut the 4 inch transition tiles smaller to make them appear to bend with the arch better.
I've been looking for pictures of tiled arches to get ideas on how to make the arch tile look good.
I will build the arch width to match the width of the tile, mortar, backerboard and plywood used, leaving enough room to fit the recessed lights.
I'd appreciate any advice you may have at this point in the project. I'll post back when I get further down the road and include pictures.
