Tiling my bathroom floor

I am going to tile my bathroom floor the floor boards are not very good I was considering overlaying with 12mm hardi backer boards do you think this will be a strong enough substrate for the floor taking into consideration vibration ect of do you think a 20mm board would be more suffice?

hi coppy not sure there is a 20mm board availabkle from hardi.....

if the floor boards are in poor shape remove them and sheet with 22 mm ply then over board with 6mm cement sheets

I car accross marmox boards 20mm assuming same idea as a hardi backer, my house is a old terrace so boards not in great shape as in a bit of movement in a couple I have vinyl down at moment so not roped up yet hoping may just need a few screw thinking the worst at present though lol

As Kilty says if the boards are bad you should remove & start again. if you do this you can also add some noggins to give added strength & insulation
