tiling on beam n block?

hey guys!

got a 70m2 travertine floor to start on monday, 30m2 is screed and 40m2 is beam n block i recommended DITRA over the lot and an expansion joint between the two, not sure just matting over would be enough to stop cracking.

thoughts and suggestion would be great please.

Exposed block and beam system is a new one on me. Though I've used de-bonding membranes for years where two substrates meet and not one complaint or failure. Check with Dural or Ditra's technical department to see if they'd recommend it. I suppose it depends on what movement is likely to occur in block and beam system.

As above , I've never seen a block and beam left visible only ever seen it screeded.

Me to, whats stopping blocks moving, normally loose laid in beams then slurry coat before screeding. I've also used Ditra over various changing substrates with no problems, I do try to set out tiling with joint at change though not always possible specially if client has selected random pattern.
