Tiling on DnD wall?

How long do I need to wait after dot and dabbing a bathroom wall before I can tile it?
Wall is 1700 wide and will run the length of the bath. Will only be tiling from bath level up to 2.3 metre ceiling height but using 12mm travertine tiles. Original wall is brick.

With the weight issues of 12mm Travertine - I'd suggest that D&D plasterboard is not the best substrate preparation you could choose!
I'd have prepared the brick wall as my first choice or gone down the route of mechanical fixing of a waterproof tile backer board.
All that weight on Dot & Dab :yikes:

Doing a job for a tile supplier. Did warn him I thought there might be a weight issue but he said it would be fine. Rest of walls are stud work but according to table 12mm tiles should not be fixed to plasterboard at all. What were they fixed to before tile backer boards as nothing else seems to be able to handle it?

Mesh fixed to studwork, sand & cement render, white cement based powdered adhesive.
Tile materials of this size/weight have only become 'popular' within the last 10 years so its important that the failings of the immediate past are not continued - so prepare to succeed.

Good point but tile wieghts are getting heavier, so other backgrounds are required
