tiling onto a level concrete floor

Hi folks


firstly i'd like to say thanks to the quick reply's to my post in the introduction section

here goes

My girlfriends niece has asked asked me to tile her kitchen floor for her which is a concrete floor,she has bought granite tiles which cost her £500 and the chap in the store has supplied her with a flexi adhesive which i think is wrong for concrete as flexi should be used for on top of ply etc

guys i don't want to make an arse of it for her so thought i'd sign up to the forum and ask advice from pro's before going ahead with this

guys i did a 4 month course on tiling a few years back and have done my own bathroom walls and floors and some bathrooms for friends which turned out all right except i was at them for days (lol) all the above required plywood put down and bonding agent put on the ply and then flexi adhesive with flexi grout but a concrete floor is a whole new ballgame for me

could anyone give some advice on the correct adhesive and grout to use for this, the concrete floor is flat and is only 5 square metres

any advice appreciated folks

I would use a 10mm round notch solid bed trowel to tile with...and the flexi adhesive isnt necessary but wouldn't hurt to use it if you have already got it...if the granite is a black one then black grout looks great with that type of tile.......dave.....

it never hurts really to use flexi adhesive. personally id use bal gold star, but a single part flexible would work fine. As long as its not 2 part flex, as this is very expensive and completly unnecessary. I allways use flexi grout if i use flexi adhesive, so id go with bal superflex Wide joint.

grannite tiles look better imo with small spacers 1 or 2mm also take your time to avoid lips as grannite having a shine and rectified edges they will stand out and dont forget to seal them
