Tiling onto aquapanel

Hello,
Sorry, I've registered but am a bit impatient waiting for the email to finish my registration

I am tiling using knauf Aquapanel for the first time. They recommend a flexible cement based adhesive. What I normally use for bathrooms is Sovereign Gold (a styrene based polymer apparently!).

Has anyone tried this and know whether it is ok? I'd rather not use cement based as it's a pain to put on a wall and I'll have to back the tiles, etc.

I rang sovereign and while they haven't tested it they say Gold works on tile backer boards, which I guess is roughly the same thing given that's a fibreglass and cement construction.

Why is cement based a pain to get on the walls and why would you have to "back" the tiles?

It runs because it's cement based (I can only imagine) and I doubt it'll go on as nice as sovereign plus I'll have to put it on thicker. Besides which, it costs a lot more.
But that's beside the point, I was mainly after whether anyone had used non-cement based adhesive with aquapanel/hardiboard/etc.
