Tiling onto osb3 floating floor. maybe

Hi All,

After opinions here.

I am ripping up a kitchen a kitchen floating floor in a 1930's house and wondered if 18mm OSB3 would be an okay substrate. I am going to add noggins at 400mm centres to strengthen the floor and screw every 6 inches. I intend on using an uncoupling membrane like Ditra 25 or BAL rapid uncoupling mat.

One more thing, the floor is 55% floating 45% screed

Does this sound sane?
Would you use 18mm WBP instead?
Which uncoupling membrane would you suggest?

A standard floor with joists, the osb3 board is not one I've heard it called...osb though I wouldn't give house room to a floor.

What tiles are you fitting...

I would use a minimum 18mm ply with 6mm hardie glued and screwed to the ply.
personally don't see any need for ditra ( your choice though).

Just to add check for any bounce on the floor, some joists can skimped on.

2 of the joist were shot to pieces, so they are to be replaced.

Single part flex would be my choice...

With the hardie board. What would you do with the transition from the suspended floor to concrete.

Would you ensure that the edge of the hardie lines up with the edge of the WBP?
Would you use the hardie on the concrete or something else ?

Yes I would, what would be the height difference between the 2 floors and are you tiling the screed floor aswell.

6mm. However the screed floor slopes down 10mm over the 2metres. So that would be a 16mm difference.
I may use a SLC so the finished height is up level with the hardie board.
