Hi guys, A friend has asked me to tile her front door step, i've never tiled outdoors before so what type of addy and grount should i use? Also she wants me to pick up some cheap tiles for her, what type of tiles can i use outside?

Thanks in advance.

Porcelain (Fully vitrified is preferable, but anything frost proof would be ok) or natural stones (When sealed properly) are suitable for outdoors or quarry tiles.

rapidset adhesive and make sure you grout when its not going to rain

Fully vitrified porcelain tiles is what i normally use with steps.

Make sure the adhesive is flexible and check the bag with regards to how long it will take to become fully frost resistant. Make sure the substrate is dry before you start fixing, too.

Forget all this about porcelain and the like.
What she wants is a good old fashioned Quarry tile with round edges and corners.
Red,brown or black - which do you prefer?
Use a frostproofed, waterproof fast set adhesive and a natural grey grout.

i like your style John..lol

Me too but customers sometimes like something other than red brown .....:lol::lol:. Always do them in height of British summer then you won't need to worry about RAIN HAIL SLEET & SNOW......except in Britain.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

And then when they are wet the customer will come back and sue you for slipping on the flat polished tiles! If not her then the postman, the....etc.

Smaller tiles, plenty of grip, looks the business..How about this...View attachment 3609

pretty sure there must be decent non-slip tiles that are easier to cut than Heather Browns!!
