I would remove the paint, also depends on the substrate?

other things to consider colour of tiles and size as black for example will move like mad, also consider using a Dural matting to absorb movement as direct sunlight onto tiles will cause stresses to form between the tile,adhesive and screed.

Make sure you leave perimeter movement joints and its always advisable to use a skirting tile to help stop water ingress.

Do all of above then you'll be fine.

Thanks you all for advice. Been a bit dense Whats Dural matting??
