hello everyone ,just been talking to a mate of mine today who was asking for some advice, afraid i couldnt give him a def answer tho,hes wanting to tile over slate with porcelain,i know you can tile over ceramics and some natural stone as long as they are well cleaned and primed but wasnt 100% about slate, has any one got an answer for this?many thanks j.

The way slate is structured doesnt make an ideal surface and the likely hood is they have been sealed.

I would, get some Brick acid or HG remover and go over the floor with it, dont let it dry out give it a scrub then wash it off do it twice then rinse it clean. Leave it for a couple of days to dry out the prime and use a flexible on it If someone used lithofin slate seal then it will need a dam good scrubbing.

Hope this helps
