As long as the ply is 15mm or thicker and well fixed just use a powdered flexible adhesive, depends on which brand of adhesive you use if it needs priming or not(read the instructions)as long as you apply the adhesive to the plywood with a suitable notched trowel and then backbutter the tile, push the tile into the adhesive well, it should,nt need holding up with anything,hope this helps.:thumbsup:
