tiler burden
hi
as a few people have mentioned, there is no book out on the market that covers the trade of tiling or the college syllabus. in fact i am finding it difficult to find any set pattern to the trade of tiling. i am trying to gauge what i have got to learn in order to be classed as time served, so could someboby who is time served give me some run down on what you need to cover inorder to be classed as a time served tiler..................
for example in plastering you would cover.
skimming
patching
floating out in backing coats
floating out in sand and cement
floating a column
floor screeding (sand & cement)
external rendering
pebbledashing
tyrolean
pargetting and ashlar markings
plasterboard fixing (mechanical fixing and direct bond)
running moulds and insitu fitting of moulds (fiberous plastering)
wall preparation, suctions etc etc
construction of arches, gothic, imperial etc
fitting expanding metal lathe, fixing corner beads etc
cover 1 coat projection plastering
if you knew all of the above, you would be classed as a real timeserved 4-5 year apprenticeship city and guilds advanced............
so what is it that tiling expects from its apprenticeship, any help/list on this would be really appreciated.
