To epoxy or not to epoxy - that is today's question...
I'm refitting my en suite and I'm a couple of weekends away from starting the tiling.
Some background:
635x315 porcelain tiles (rectified I think) on the floor and will also be used on the walls around the 800x1200 shower enclosure. We're using some 300x300 mosaic to act as a contrast in the shower (one vertical strip wide) and also being used above the basin.
The question I have is should I go for epoxy grout to ensure the walls and the floor look/stay as clean as possible? I've been reading up on Mapei Kerapoxy Design and provided you follow all the advice I've seen here I can see no reason why not to use it.
The design type looks to be more suitable due to its qualities and considering the mosiac we are using (see photo). The only downside is the reduced choice of colours. We're likely to want the grout in beige or thereabouts.
It is quite expensive though and I'd have to work in smallish areas (possibly halving the grout and only mixing up when needed) but can anybody suggest why not - apart from my lack of experience? To be honest I shouldn't complain about the cost given what has been spent of the rest of the bathroom.
I was planning on 2mm wall grout lines and 3mm for the floor. I thought I saw a min width of 3mm but the datasheet doesn't mention min width (only max of 7mm).
Application and cleanup are key and I am getting a hard faced float and the emulsifying cleanup stuff from trade tiler along with the 10mm U notch (solid bed) trowel for the floor and a 4.5mm notch trowel for the mosaics.
Any suggestions welcome!
