Just a thought - don't take this wrong, but every customer I've worked for who has been an engineer of some sort has been pretty painful to deal with.
I think engineers get caught up in the technical and fiddly aspects rather than the craft and final result.
I remember one guy who was completely fixated on the direction of lighting and shadows and how he should have had a window moved, rather than being happy with a beautiful and rather expensive bathroom.
I'd argue that engineering is less of a craft and a lot more of a science than tile and stone fixing.
