travertine advice please

Hi, doing a job next week using 600mm travertine on both walls and floor, i understand about back-skimming the tile before spreading on the wall but which adhesive is the best to use as its in a bathroom, I normally use "mapei" adhesives so would kerraquick (single part flexi floor adhesive) do or is another adhesive any better. I live beside CTD so can easily get BAL if this is better.......

hi jabba mate..i use bal all the time so can only recommend single part flexible white for the walls and rapid set flexible white for the floor..... then no probs with any bleed through from the back...back skimming is spot on.....i use lithofin stainstop as well to seal and you'll get that in ctd along with bal stuff.......dave..

Agree with DH on choice of adhesives, although normally use rapid set myself on walls and floor.

You need to backbutter both wall and floor tiles to make sure that the holes in the back of the tile are filled up to help to prevent them cracking.

You're probably aware of it I'm sure but I have to mention safe weights. Got asked to put travertine on plasterboard walls but when I weighed it it was over 32kg per square metre so declined to do it.
