Travertine mosaic onto painted walls?

What ady would you reccomend for travertine mosaic onto painted walls (after scoring) ? Kitchen splashback. Ready mixed or bagged?

How confident are you of the painted substrate???

How big are the mosaics?

I would always use a cement based addy (white) and possibly a 4 mm trowel depending on mosaic size.

Hi i agree about the strength of the painted walls as paint is not an ideal surface to be tiled over and should be completly removed before tiling.

Although on a kitchen splashback the weight of the tiles shouldnt be great enough to separate the paint from the wall.

I would recomend two options, if you want to grout on the same day use a 1 part flexi or if you are going to grout on the second day you can use Multifix which is a ready mixed paste suitable for natural stone.

Both products mentioned are available from Granfix
