They are 'emojis' John/whitebeam , the little smilie faces or cartoon figures you can put on the end ,basically a good idea so you can show what you have wrote is a bit of a joke/banter/serious ect
Young uns like me know all about stuff like this

I know john, i was just explaining what the squares were .
The last bit was my attempt at being witty , it usually works when face to face ( unless they are arsie gits) thats why there was a smilie face there well or a square

Yours had a smilie face and I took it in the manner it was typed, I just don't know why some posts are displayed with a square rather than the actual smilie - it must be a glitch!
As for the medium of the forum for expressing humour it can often be lost - however if you were to ask my wife ( as I don't have any friends) - you would find I'am an arsie git !:smilewinkgrin:

I think the squares ,this is just me thinking out loud,are from emojis (smilies) from iPhones/iPads only,if I'm on my laptop I get squares as well but on my iPhone/iPad I get faces .
And I know your a arise git John, but a nice arsie git
