Substrate is 18mm chipboard, tile size is 400x600 travertine, joist spacing is around 400mm. Usually i would oversheet with 18mm wbp or screw and glue 12mm cement boards but height is an issue. Would 12mm wbp be sufficient to use with a rapidset flex or should i use a 2 part. Large format trowel would be used.

Thanks

Floor feels ok and is only a small area, < 6metres . Do you think with this size of tile that the 12mm wbp would be suficient used with a rapidset flex, just doing like taking risks with travertine as it can vary so much in quality?

Thanks for your input

Have you considered using something like 6mm Hardiebacker or No more Ply if height is an issue? May be the solution if the floor is solid enough!

Have you considered using pecilastic, its 0.8mm thick you only need to stick it down using rapid set and a 2-3mm trowel !!

Unless the joist spacing is low or extra dwangs have been installed then most 18mm chipboard floors will have a slight deflection. I have considered other products such as hardi. Do younot think the 12mm ply will be sufficient?

Thanks
