I am a member of the TTA but dont think I will be re-joining. You do get some information however there are only 250 members in the UK and it is really top heavy with manufacturers not fixers.

The TTA would get more interest if they were fixer orientated but a lot of decisions that affect us seem to be made by non fixers. They seem to be behind NVQs etc but dont seem to be taking into account the amount of fixers out there, I think it says it all that their membership is only 250 members and that has only recently been achived and as I said very few fixers in that 250.

I think there are a lot of decisions being made in our industry on our behalf by non fixers that think they know best but dont really have a clue and are only interested in bringing in changes that can benifit them and make our life hell.

Just my opinion you do get to use the logo lol.

I was actually thinking about joining it to see if it opened any doors for my company.

I was approached at T&S by a guy from TTA who encouraged me to join. He said he knew the paperwork was a bit of a barrier to new companies and overley formal but would help me to complete it.

A couple of telephone calls to me after the show and I think I kind of put it on the back burner.

I know Mark Humphries of PTS Harlow sits on the board but I am not sure if there are any commercial advantages for me.

I'm going to see what happens at the T&S show and maybe I will join just to see if there is any advantage.

But it would seem that there is little incentive for fixers to become members. Perhaps I will raise that comment with the guy if he pops over to my stand....
