Tubbed addy with dodgy smell

Hi all,
Just letting you know what happened me a few times recently.
My apprentice opened a new Ardex D20, he commented on the smell. I said yep thats how you know its good stuff. He mixed it a bit and carried it into the room i was in. Well, holy smokes, the smell would have knocked you out. The addy was off, had a greeny tinge on the surface and stank of mould or bacteria. Bogging! Couldnt get the lid on it quick enough.
Anyway, took it back to the shop, opened three more before i got a good D30. This has happened with one other manufacturer and Ardex explaine dit by organic material contaminating the buckets (ie a leaf or insect) pre filling.

Has this happend to any of you? Maybe ive a sensitive nose but the first thing i do now is smell every new tub! I get some funny looks of my victims, sorry clients.

Dont use Ardex adhesive Dave so never had this problem,i also always check the dates of materials before i buy them.Last week customer supplied materials and the flexi adhesive pci was out of date and hard.

Wasnt out of date, and opened different batches, same same. Maybe just a local delivery!

Moral of the story.........don't use tubbed adhesive.........

i had a bucket with dirty water from wshing off tiles after fixing and left it there a little while couple of weeks or something, (job at home...) well bugger me it stank like my cat had left a turd in the bottom of it! disgusting, maybe i should have cleaned it sooner.. :yes:

I mainly use powder gear now, but before it was D20, and never had a problem.

nop wasn't one of my home brands .... i only do them in builders buckets.
